Ambrose Bierce
Ambrose Bierce blasted out of his mother on June 24th 1842, and was
born in Ohio. He was the 10th kid out of 13 total. He moved to
Indiana which is where he went to high school. He then went to
Kentucky Military Institute, and ended up enlisting into the Union
army when the Civil war was going on. He boldly fought in some
dangerous battles (Shiloh, and Chickamauga.) After the Civil War
was over Ambrose wasnt doing much of anything until he traveled
with the military to California for an expedition, but when he got
there he decided he wanted out of the military because he wanted to
start his writing career. (IN-TEXT CITATION)Ambroses writing
career was pretty successful right from the start. His poetry
showed up in the Californian. In 1868 he became the editor of The
News Letter, he also wrote in it as well. Bierce became so well
known, and popular in the state of California that he actually had
a pretty good friendship with the famous Mark Twain. He goes on to
write several articles, and short stories. What I like about
Ambrose is the connection he makes. Some of his famous stories are
fiction, but yet they somewhat have to do with his life as well.

3 films have
been made based off of only 1 of his stories. That story was An
Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. None of them are recent though,
the films were made in the 1900s. That same story also appeared in
the TV series The Twilight Zone. Its very rare that you watch a
show on the television without commercial interruption, but when
that episode aired there was no commercials. A copy of the story
also appeared on another television series called Lost. That
story obviously had an impact on people considering it was in
several films, and television series, impressive to me. There was
also a story written by Carlos Fuentes who wrote a fictional story
on Ambroses disappearance, which I will get to later on. (IN
